DISCONTINUED MODEL: absent from the xctracer.com shop and its product menu since 18.01.2026 at the latest (last appearance confirmed by archive on 11.10.2024, at 689 CHF, price stable since at least February 2024) — replaced by the Maxx III. FlyVisible does not sell it; the compatibility notes below remain valid for devices already in circulation. ADS-L (transmission and reception) confirmed active since the firmware update of 16.09.2025 ("Maxx II and Mini V now also support ADS-L — both sending and receiving"), the official Maxx II changelog specifying in version R10: "ADS-L is now implemented, sending and receiving ADS-L packets. Needs latest radio firmware installed." FANET (transmission and reception) is a long-standing feature of the device, confirmed by the official product page. Koni (XC Tracer GmbH) confirms by email on 24.08.2026 that the Maxx II "receives the same feature set as Maxx III and Mini V via a free firmware update". OPEN QUESTION TO BE CONFIRMED WITH XC TRACER: the official Maxx II product page describes the FANET/FLARM radio as working "with transmission and reception" (generic, undated marketing wording), which would suggest FLARM reception. However, Koni's email of 24.08.2026 states that on the Maxx III and the Mini V (same generation of radio firmware), FLARM is "TX only" — no reception. It is unclear whether the Maxx II has retained a historical FLARM reception or whether it has been aligned with this TX-only behaviour. As a precaution, FLARM reception is displayed as "No" here pending explicit confirmation of direction (TX/RX) for this specific model — do not publish it as an established fact until XC Tracer has responded. The exact ADS-L implementation (ADS-L 4 SRD860 Issue 1, confirmed for the Maxx III and the Mini V) has not been explicitly repeated for the Maxx II by Koni; the same radio firmware number (7.24_0_10_80) across all three models makes the same implementation very likely, but this point is left to be confirmed rather than stated. [TEST EDIT]
Compatibility verified on 20 September 2026.
What does this table mean? Why this product?
Model discontinued by the manufacturer: the XC Tracer Maxx II no longer appears on the official xctracer.com shop nor in its product menu (only the Maxx III, the Mini V and accessories are listed there) — it has been replaced by the Maxx III. FlyVisible does not sell it; it remains referenced here to document its compatibility for the benefit of pilots who already own one. Last known public price: 689 CHF, confirmed stable across several archive records (Internet Archive) between February and October 2024, disappeared from the shop by 18.01.2026 at the latest. The XC Tracer Maxx II is XC Tracer's mid-range model (120 g). On 16.09.2025 the manufacturer released a firmware update (radio R10, current firmware R12) adding ADS-L transmission AND reception to the Maxx II and the Mini V — this is therefore no longer a future feature, it is available as soon as the corresponding vario + radio firmware is installed. FANET has long been supported in transmission and reception on this device (a long-standing feature, unrelated to this update). FLARM is transmitted; its reception is an open question to be clarified with XC Tracer (see compatibility notes). All firmware updates remain free for devices already sold.
