The Confederation provides financial support for the purchase of certain ADS-L compatible devices, as part of the federal electronic conspicuity program (E-Conspicuity / FASST-CH). Concretely, this support currently takes the form of a specific program, active as of now: the Variosubvention 2026.
The principle
The FOCA has communicated in writing an indicative timeline for electronic conspicuity (ADS-L): stakeholder consultation at the end of 2026, publication of the requirement mid-2027, a one-year transition period, then entry into force targeted for mid-2028 for crewed aircraft flying VFR in airspace classes G and E (paragliding is concerned) — a timeline that the FOCA itself presents as subject to the uncertainties of the legislative process. To support this transition, the Confederation partially finances the purchase of ADS-L compatible devices — but only for brands that have concluded an agreement with the FOCA.
Which devices are concerned
To date, only two brands are eligible:
- Skytraxx — Skytraxx 5 and Skytraxx 5 mini (the discontinued Skytraxx 4.0 is not concerned)
- XC Tracer — Maxx III and Mini V (the discontinued Maxx II is not concerned)
You can recognize them on our store by the "Subvention 2026 éligible" badge. No other brand in the catalog (Skydrop, Syride, AIR³, AVIONIX, STODEUS…) currently has a FOCA agreement — we update this page as soon as a change is confirmed.
How to submit an application
Contrary to what one might think, the process does not go through the seller: it is you, as a pilot, who submits your application directly on variosubvention.ch, the portal managed by Fly Over / XC Tracer in partnership with the FOCA.
You will need:
- Your 2026 purchase invoice (the one FlyVisible provided you)
- A copy of your SHV/FSVL license (downloadable from your SHV account, not your membership card)
- The FANET number of your device (device menu > Extras > Device status)
- Your IBAN
Conditions to meet (all cumulative)
- You have never submitted an application for a subsidy before
- No application has ever been submitted for this specific device
- You are domiciled in Switzerland
- The device was purchased in Switzerland
- The invoice is dated 2026 (max. 24 months for a student pilot who has just obtained their license)
- You hold an SHV/FSVL license
Amount and timeline
- Amount: approximately CHF 72.- per device, subject to approval of the application by the FOCA
- Submission deadline: no precise deadline is published on the official portal to date — check the deadline currently in effect directly on variosubvention.ch before submitting your application
- Payment: the year following submission (2027 for a 2026 purchase), once reimbursement from the FOCA has been obtained by Fly Over / XC Tracer; no precise date within the year is communicated
The program is renewed each free flight school year: a purchase made in 2027 will fall under a separate "Variosubvention 2027" cycle, whose precise terms will be republished in due course.
What this concretely changes for a paraglider pilot
- Buy a Skytraxx 5, Skytraxx 5 mini, XC Tracer Maxx III or Mini V to be eligible as of today.
- Keep your FlyVisible purchase invoice — it is the only proof of purchase required.
- Submit your application yourself on variosubvention.ch, checking the deadline currently in effect on the portal (not published to date) for a 2026 purchase.
- Only one application per pilot and per device: the subsidy cannot be requested again.
