Connectivity & visibility
SKYTRAXX confirms that its devices currently use ADS-L Issue 1 for transmission (same module/activation as the SKYTRAXX 5 and 5 mini). The manufacturer does not plan an intermediate migration to Issue 2 and states its intention to move directly to Issue 3 once this future specification is finalized. This is the current roadmap announced by SKYTRAXX; no availability date is communicated and no future update is guaranteed. ADS-L In remains inactive to date.

The manufacturer's official user manual confirms FANET+ transmission and reception (position, speed, heading, vario, device type and ID continuously transmitted; FANET participants, thermals and wind stations received and displayed), as well as FLARM transmission (FLARM Beacon), integrated as standard and active by default, with no separate activation or subscription. The manufacturer also offers, for this model as for the SKYTRAXX 5 and 5 mini, the paid "aware-FLARM / ADS-L" option (€99, activated via the device's FANET-ID in the manufacturer's shop): it adds FLARM reception (FLARM In, "aware" level) and ADS-L transmission (ADS-L Out). The device selector for this option, on the official skytraxx.eu product page, explicitly lists the SKYTRAXX 4.0 among the eligible models; the Swiss authorized reseller flyovershop.ch (skytraxx.li) also confirms this explicitly. The SKYTRAXX 4.0 does not receive ADS-L (ADS-L In): the manufacturer specifies that this option is transmission-only ("ADS-L does not receive data from others"). Without this paid option, the SKYTRAXX 4.0 therefore has full FANET+ and FLARM transmission only (FLARM Beacon); with the option, it adds FLARM reception and ADS-L transmission.
